Dear Young Republicans and Young at Heart Republicans:
This May, we will be gathering in Quincy at the Marriott Hotel to celebrate the best of what it means to be a Republican. I am inviting you to join us on May 22, 2010 to be part of the NOW generation of Republican leadership.
It started last year with the election of Jennifer Nassour as the GOP Chair. In Jennifer, we have one of our own as the head of the party. We’re not the future, we’re the NOW. As Democrats control the levels of government on Beacon Hill and Capital Hill, and with no national leader to rally behind, each of us must be that leader. That is why I am asking you to be part of this exciting weekend.
YRs have stepped up to serve as candidates. Many of this year’s crop of legislative candidates came from the ranks of the MFYRs, including State Senate Candidates Brad Williams, Eric Dahlberg and Eric Steinhilber. YRs running for State Representative candidates include Brett Schetzle, Patrick Brennan, Geoff Diehl, Joseph Truschelli, Kara Frotto, Mario Marchese, Paul Adams, David Rose, Monica Medeiros, Erik Estevez and numerous others.
The Massachusetts Federation of Young Republicans (MFYR) have never been stronger. We have the most chartered clubs in recent memory. We have institutional support from leaders on Beacon Hill and across the state. We have Young Republicans serving as elected officials in Cities and Towns across the Commonwealth.
On May 22, we will gather to elect our State-wide leadership for the next year. This will be a wistful time for me personally, as this will mark the end of my three year tenure as Chairman of the MFYRs. I am proud to have served in this position longer than anyone else in the last 20 years, and to have served two full terms. Now it is time to pass the torch onto a new generation, with new ideas, and new energy.
We will hear from legislative leaders about their efforts to take back Beacon Hill. We will assemble the largest gathering of Young Republican elected officials to showcase the farm team, and to send a message to Beacon Hill. If you are a YR elected official/appointed official/former official we want you to join us.
After the day’s activities are over, we will adjourn to F1 Racing in Braintree for some post-Convention festivities. We will announce the MFYR 2010 Awards at F1 and will honor those YR activists from across the state who have made a difference. We’re not saying who will be honored, and if you have someone you want to nominate, let us know about him or her.
However you look at it, it will be a fun weekend. It will be a weekend where you meet new friends and renew old friendships. It will be a weekend where you will learn something new and meet someone new.
We have worked hard to provide you a weekend that provides you maximum value, maximum substance, and maximum fun. We hope you agree, and will join us. Information about registration, programming, accomodations are all on the site. You can pay online via paypal. If you have questions, email us. We want to hear from you, and we want to see you in May, and then a lot more from there.
Regards,
Richard Wheeler
Chair, MA Federation of Young Republicans
